a short entry – what’s up with life
Hiya! This will be a short entry to keep you up on what’s happening.
I had a good Christmas, I enjoyed my time with the girls and with my family.
I got some decent gifts and handed out a few ๐
I have been working since Wednesday at client X and it has been cool
but very tiring. There is a project that is a kind of behind on a deadline for Tuesday
and we are working with the tiger crew to get it on track in time. I am not sure
yet how it will work out for the week-end but so far I have been worked all day
for two days and will wind up doing it again on Friday (today).
The people are cool, the work is OK and the office dog is the one of the
coolest puppies around. He seems to have an affinity for bagels!
In any case, Tatsumi
is working on the project with me so that is a good thing. One of the best
aspects of this contract is that the client is working with dotPublishing,
Inc. instead of with us as individuals. While we primarily weren’t thinking
about it at the time it is in retrospect a crucial issue for us and thankfully
it is all working out fine.
Our agreement pretty much makes dotPublishing a external vendor for client
X and while we did agree on an hourly rate mostly this is a project by
project bid system. That leaves us with the flexibility to simply not ‘sign on’
for a project if we aren’t going to be able to dedicate our resources to them
during that time frame.
Basically, dotPublishing no longer has to go looking for clients as we have
one who is more than capable of using all the time we can offer them. That is
a good thing.
Unfortunately, if we aren’t very careful they could suck up all
our time and leave us without a functioning company simply because we wouldn’t
have been able to ‘take care of business’ outside of their contract. That would
be a bad thing.
I think we are savvy enough to be able to handle it. ๐
Kimiko is
doing OK, fortunately she can start taking her anti-depressants again (yeah!)
and the one we are working with now seems to have a track record of helping with
migraines and cluster headaches so hopefully that will help her on two fronts.
The Imitrex is still working like a charm but we have to be careful about how
much she takes for several reasons. Not the least of which is that the insurance
company we use will only pay for six(6) doses every thirty(30) days. ๐
In any case, that’s what’s up! Oh, and here is the current weather forecast
here, and the main reason why I am hoping to be able to work from home this
weekend. I have a bet with my Mom that we won’t get more than 1/2 inch of snow.

On another note, I have really missed blogging. I know, it sounds weird but I
have been so crazy trying to find work of late that I felt like it would be a
bad thing for me to take the time to rant. Fortunately I think I can handle it
now.
Let’s see…
