you just can’t please some wimmin’ and other stuff – but you
guys know that already
Well, this is going to cover a little bit of extra ground, in no particular
order.
boxes? – We moved one of our systems to Tatsumi’s
Friday (depending on your point of view yesterday or the day before) so that Kimiko
could keep up with her work now that we have been spending more time here. It
was a good move and thus the last linux box I had been running on our premises
slipped into the night and became a Windows 2000 workstation. That’s Ok, we
weren’t using it for much at the moment.
unreal baby – we picked up a copy of Unreal
Tournament today. It looks pretty cool and the most important thing about it
is how much support
there is for writing ‘mods’ and doing other general development. We are looking
at it as a way to get some handle on ‘project zero’ without spending a few hundred
thousand at the moment.
little grey cells – I have been looking at replacing the blogger
stuff with something more specifically tailored to my needs, and I took a good
hard look at ‘Grey
Matter‘. Grey Matter is a Perl
script that is a little like blogger but also has some radical tangents in it.
Ultimately, I decided it wasn’t any closer to what I really wanted (at least so
far) but I wanted to mention it because some of you might prefer it and because it is a great tool.
babe request – so some chick named Andrea seams to be a classic
example of a ‘you can’t please ’em’ feminist. In a recent
article in the well known bastion of objective commentary that is ‘Rebel
Rebel’ she bitches for a page or two about MTV’s ‘Total
Request live‘. Apprently you just can’t please some people. here is a chick
who seems more than happy to say that somehow or another Britney
Spears causes rape – but now doubt she would deny any claim that giving out condoms
increased teen sex.
Remember all that stuff we keep hearing about how horrible it is for
women/girls to be ashamed of their bodies? Or how bad it was to try and repress
the reality that young women are sexual beings? How about all the bitching we
heard when women didn’t get any airplay on MTV?
Well, I finally decoded it.
- It’s only OK to give women airplay on MTV if they are bitter, ugly, gay or
a combination of all the above. -
Pretty girls
are still supposed to be ashamed of their bodies, only the ugly/fat ones are
supposed to be proud. - It’s only OK for women or girls to like sex if they are lesbians.
That seems to be the sum total of the rabid
feminist media view. On the other hand, it’s so funny I am going to quote
some of it ๐
"In each video, with the exception of one, the woman could be considered, by societyโs and mediaโs standards, attractive. The majority were thin, most wore clothes that highlighted their bodies, and most were dancing in their videos, playing the part of the seductress, both singer and object to the camera and potentially male viewer." – article |
You do see how screwed up this is right? Somehow, Andrea
is amazed and confused that the popular women in music are attractive and *gasp*
dance! Hide the kiddies Martha, we are in for a bumpy season!
Lets just check this out. it’s Ok for some behemoth to breast feed in the
Duncan Donuts and be topless in some major cities and I am supposed to be all
happy that she is Ok with her body. However, if Christine
Aguilera manages to look good in a halter top the rape statistics hit an all
time high.
- Pretty = BAD
- Ugly = HEROIC
- Average = GOOD
You know, this all seems oddly familiar now. The more I listen to the
remnants of what was once a useful and important movement (feminism) I hear the
words of Orwell. I wound up reading 1984
last night for a while because I didn’t have my current
novel with me and it all started making a horrible sort of sense.
Only the drab and ordinary are good. Anything that rises above is bad.
Desiring young, attractive women is a thoughtcrime. To speak out against
the destruction of any aspirations above the ordinary is to be branded a Neanderthal,
a rapist and a misogynist.
Freaky. And stupid… don’t forget stupid.
So, I have come up with some affirmations for the pretty feminists, a group I
feel is under attack.
If you’re a pretty female and you want to dress
in a way
that makes you feel and look pretty, do it.
Being pretty is not evil.
It’s OK to be thin.
You don’t have to be fat to be equal.
Extra pounds don’t make you extra feminist.
You can thank me later.
