biz and life – these things revolve around each other

NOTE: This post was delayed, I am already awake for a new day ๐Ÿ™‚

Some site news: You can not point your links at soulhuntre.com with safety.
All URL/browser detection will come from there now. This means you won’t need
the "enhanced/views" portion of the URL anymore if you were using it.
This is very much a work in progress.

Obviously, there has been a lot of stress here locally about money. This is
no shock to anyone who knows how
things are
out there in the marketplace. Along with money stress comes many
other stresses – some of the interpersonal, some of them simply personal. Many
of the things I want to do require a rather serious cash flow – and many of the
loyalties I expect from others really only come if I can supply adequate sums of
money.

I am not insulted by this. It is simply the ‘way things are’. If you would
rule, then you must provide. Simple.

Anyway – I have been thinking about the directions this
company
has to go in to survive. The market has changed, the climate for
money, income and finance has changed. Some things remain the same. In the
current market, the clear winner seems to be direct to consumer, paid content.
The big loser (at current) is business to business consulting services. Our
recent problems with Client X have shown me that you are always in trouble if
you are at the mercy of another firm.

I am a much wiser man than I was a year ago – and my team more
technically adept. The question remains then – what is it dotPublishing,
Inc.
has to offer?

  • Strong design skills
  • Excellent entertainment/fiction authoring abilities
  • Programming/technical skills in many areas of high performance web
technologies. We are one of the few firms that can claim the ability to code
    in the new .NET
    programming framework from Microsoft
  • An understanding of the one consistently profitable sector of the net
economy – the adult entertainment market
  • A clear vision and definition of three major projects that utilize these
skills to deliver compelling services and content directly to consumers

So, using the above – how do we draw up a plan of attack to become independent
in the least amount of time – and give ourselves the chance to move on? My
napkin sketch is below…

  • Actively seek expanded short term work from existing sources (Client X,
Client Z and some of our old
    friends
    come to mind)
  • Continue to expand the traffic flow to our already
    proven
    websites
  • Accelerate the final opening of those
    projects
    that are extremely
    close
    to the finish line
  • Allocate the resources needed for those new
    projects
that can be turned around in the short term
  • Get off our butts and look for some other possible sources of expansion
external funding is an option, some
    of these
    are in place and others
    need to be investigated

That’s enough of that for now. If you know anyone who is good with business
plans or knows about this "regulation
D
" stuff let me know! We really need help with our
business plan!

Night!
