Sheesh! What a week this is turning out to be. While Tatsumi got to go hang out on a nude beach with all the pretty young girls fresh out of graduation I was stuck running on no sleep and working on code. Sometimes she gets all the breaks. Then again, she has to show up at an office most days… and I would hate that.
I had to take some time to do an urgent project for Client “S” today, and while it turned out to be a total pain int he ass it came out well and I learned some super cool stuff. I also found a great tool to put Excel spreadsheets into a web page and retain their functionality. I have several clients who need this, so it is a big plus for me.
Speaking of code, I made a few paradigm shifts in my understanding of big databases while working on the project for Client “R”. I now [[e2:grok]] triggers, and it is a seriously good thing in my life. It has dramatically increased the efficiency of how I can design and code for complex data operations, and combined with some user defined functions and stored procedures I can take the complex stuff away from the web pages. it took me like … 18-24 hours of solid work to get my head around it but I feel like my brain grew a shoe size.
Ok… I am off to sleep. We are deep inside of what we consider a “hell week” around here and that means I usually sleep about 2 hours every 12 until the project is done. Of course, this messes up any hope Kimiko has of regular hours. I expect this schedule will stay in place till after the 4th of July weekend.
