"Observe that the philosophical system based on the axiom of the
primacy of existence (i.e., on recognizing the absolutism of reality) led to
the recognition of man’s identity and rights. But the philosophical systems
based on the primacy of consciousness (i.e., on the seemingly megalomaniacal
notion that nature is whatever man wants it to be) led to the view that man
possesses no identity, that he is infinitely flexible, malleable, usable,
and disposable. Ask yourself why." – Ayn Rand, "The Metaphysical vs. the
Man-Made"
ed note: for your viewing pleasure I have added some eye candy.
This post is prompted by a great series of editorials from the
ifeminists.net website on this and
similar topics, go look them over (links at end of article).
I have mentioned before that the critical problem with radical feminism is
that it is based purely on feelings, not logic. It allows for how on perceives
the world to be paramount, not what is in the world. Look at what
they espouse and you can see it.
- The do not care if you are threatened, but if you feel
threatened. - They do not care if you are victimized, but whether you feel victimized.
- They proclaim thatt you have the right to not feel bad
about yourself, or come into contact with other points of view that might
make you feel things you dislike.
In effect, they have decided to get rid of the whole notion of objective
reality. They openly do not care about it. Radical feminism is a construct of
how they feel about the world… and has no room for how the world is. Logic,
objective thought, rationalism, science… these are the tools of men. Take for
example the issue of sexuality, whether it is at all nature or all nurture. The
radical feminist stance is that it is all nurture… when called on it the
respond thus:
"For the sake of feminist politics, for the sake of what benefits
women in the world, again, it *does not mattre* whether or not
heterosexuality is innate. It is a nonissue." –

The editorial "Feminist
Head-Games at the United Nations" discusses this trend and basis as well:
"No, this is not a joke.
Feminist Elizabeth Minnich scornfully traces the source of rationality
to a "few privileged males.who are usually called ‘The Greeks.’" Historian
Gerda Lerner denigrates the great liberal tradition of sound thinking as
"the rape of our minds." And here’s my favorite: Charlotte Bunch concludes
feminists must attack the problem of "phallocentrism" by "reconstructing the
world from the standpoint of women." –
quote in context
Of course (to quote Rand again) there are deep problems with a anything built
on the premise of feelings instead of reality…
"The restriction they seek to escape is the law of identity. The
freedom they seek is freedom from the fact that an A will remain an A, no
matter what their tears or tantrums—that a river will not bring them milk,
no matter what their hunger—that water will not run uphill, no matter what
comforts they could gain if it did, and if they want to lift it to the roof
of a skyscraper, they must do it by a process of thought and labor, in which
the nature of an inch of pipe line counts, but their feelings do not—that
their feelings are impotent to alter the course of a single speck of dust in
space or the nature of any action they have committed. Those who tell you that man is unable to perceive a reality
undistorted by his senses, mean that they are unwilling to perceive a
reality undistorted by their feelings. ‘Things as they are’ are things as
perceived by your mind; divorce them from reason and they become ‘things as
perceived by your wishes. There is no honest revolt against reason—and when you accept any part
of their creed, your motive is to get away with something your reason would
not permit you to attempt." – Ayn Rand as "John Galt" in Atlas Shrugged

That’s all I have time for, just wanted to point this out.

One response to “don’t let logic keep you down!”
Sadly, this phenomenon is not limited to feminism. Anything that could fit before the word “Studies” on a college campus pretty much denies the visible, tangible reality in favor of wishes, dreams and “should be’s.” I am terribly annoyed whenever I hear some teacher or otherwise grown person admonish a parent for disciplining their child because it will make them “feel bad” regardless of what they did.
